Bio
Majeed is a Master’s student (MSc) in the discipline of Industrial Design at the Technion Institute of Technology, Israel. He Graduated from the Technion with a BSc in Architecture and Town Planning and worked in the industry specializing in BIM (Building Information Modeling) and parametric design. Majeed is currently working on his thesis in the master’s degree program in the field of stereolithography based 3D printing using lasers.
Examination of the Feasibility of Multiwavelength Volumetric Photopolymerization
This research aims to examine the practical feasibility of a novel approach of a Vat Photopolymerization additive manufacturing technique which utilizes the physical properties of intersecting laser beams to initiate and propagate a polymerization reaction to form a linear or crosslinked polymer structure. The novel method suggested in this study opens new possibilities in the additive manufacturing industry and research that were not discovered before. The process of initiating a polymerization reaction in photopolymer resins by intersecting two different wavelength lights could potentially pave the way to further strides in new developments in the additive manufacturing industry and ongoing research in the academic field.
3D printed artificial reef
Majeed has had his input in the in the Nature-Centered Design research (Tarazi et al., 2019) which examines fish behavior around 3D printed corals designed with a variety of topological parameters. His role in the research was modeling a scanned coral and morphing its typology to various designs using advanced digital sculpting software.
Scuba fins design
A design approach of designing scuba diving fins by utilizing computation fluid dynamics (CFD) tools to study the limitations of conventional commercial scuba diving fins. The design of “AeroFins” assimilated the insights from CFD analysis and incorporated them using computation sculpting tool (T-splines) within Fusion 360.
